Democrat Quits: ‘Impossible To Unsee What I’ve Seen’

(Patriot.Buzz) – After being unable to shake the feeling she got from last month’s Democrat National Convention (DNC), staunch Democrat campaign fundraiser Evan Barker shared her decision to leave the party.

She summed up her experience in two sentences: “It’s impossible to unsee what I’ve seen. I can only go forward.”

In a candid Newsweek op-ed, Barker shared her journey from being a dedicated fundraiser who raised “tens of millions of dollars” for the party to feeling disconnected from its current path.

Barker recounted her initial excitement to volunteer at the DNC where Kamala Harris accepted the presidential nomination.

However, the reality of the event left her feeling isolated and out of place in the middle of what she described as a display of disconnect from the needs of everyday Americans.

“I felt submersed in a hollow chamber…totally out of touch with regular, every-day Americans and their pressing needs; instead, the most elite people in the world chanted in unison that ‘We’re not going back,'” she wrote.

Reflecting on her upbringing in a family of blue-collar union Democrats near Kansas City, Barker noted the stark contrast between the party’s past and its present state, which caters more to the elite.

For Baker, the chants of “We’re not going back” at the DNC symbolized a departure from the values that her family once supported.

Barker’s growing dissatisfaction reached a point of no return at the DNC, marking a key moment in her political journey.

She had hoped to rediscover her passion for the Democrat Party, like the joy she felt celebrating Barack Obama’s victory.

Instead, she found herself confronting the realities of a party that prioritizes high-profile donors and policies that do not align with the needs of the working class.

Barker also criticized the Democrats for adopting policies that betrayed their historical values.

“Perhaps the most shocking of all is how the Democrats have embraced Bush-era foreign policy to become the party of war,” she wrote.

“Instead of rebuilding the working class communities that have been hit hardest by their neoliberal trade policies, they’ve spent $175 billion funding the war in Ukraine,” she added.

Concluding her thoughts, Barker lamented the party’s shift towards a demographic that is urban, wealthy and often condescending while neglecting broader, more inclusive economic reforms.
