NEWS ALERT: Amid the controversial online feud they had last week, President Trump has thrown down the gauntlet to Elon Musk, threatening him with “very serious consequences” if the billionaire supports Democrats in upcoming elections.
The once-productive alliance between Trump and Musk has crumbled into a bitter public feud over the Republican budget bill, with Trump declaring their relationship permanently over.
In a phone interview with NBC News’ Kristen Welker, Trump clarified his position regarding Musk’s potential political defection.
“If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that. He’ll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that,” Trump stated firmly.
He referred to Musk potentially funding Democrat candidates who oppose the GOP-supported Trump’s agenda.
The warning comes amid an escalating feud that began when Musk publicly criticized the Republican budget legislation, which Trump has championed as his “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”
Musk condemned the bill as a “deficit-increasing monstrosity,” despite its inclusion of key conservative priorities like tax cuts, border security measures, and increased military spending.
Trump dismissed any possibility of reconciliation with the SpaceX and Tesla CEO.
When asked if their relationship was over, Trump responded bluntly: “No. I would assume so, yeah. I’m too busy doing other things. I have no intention of speaking to him.”
The president also accused Musk of disrespecting the presidency, saying, “I think it’s a very bad thing because he’s very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the president.”
While not explicitly stating what these “consequences” might entail, sources indicate Trump has considered withdrawing government support for Musk’s businesses, including potentially canceling SpaceX’s lucrative federal contracts.
These measures would significantly damage Musk’s business empire, which has benefited greatly from government partnerships.
Moreover, their relationship has deteriorated swiftly and dramatically.
Musk initially played a prominent role in Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he was tasked with identifying cost-cutting measures.
However, tensions escalated when Musk deleted a social media post linking Trump to Jeffrey Epstein and later retracted a threat to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft.
In spite of the conflict, some administration officials remain hopeful for reconciliation.
Vice President J.D. Vance suggested Musk was “emotional” and had made a mistake, expressing optimism that the tech billionaire might eventually return to supporting Trump’s agenda.
Meanwhile, Trump claimed the feud had actually unified the Republican Party around him and his legislative priorities.
The contentious budget bill at the center of the dispute includes significant tax cuts and increased spending on conservative priorities, offset by cuts to programs like Medicaid.
Economic analysts project it could add between $2.3 trillion and $5 trillion to the deficit over the next decade, though Trump remains confident it will pass the Senate despite Musk’s vocal opposition.
Adding fuel to the political fire, Musk has reportedly suggested forming a third political party, a move that could potentially fragment conservative support in future elections.
For patriots concerned about maintaining a unified conservative front against the radical left agenda, this internal conflict represents a troubling distraction from the critical work of securing America’s borders, protecting constitutional freedoms, and rolling back government overreach.
