(Patriot.Buzz) – In a major announcement, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump promised that if he wins back the White House in November, he plans to eliminate taxes on overtime wages.
Trump has also previously promised to remove taxes on tips and Social Security benefits.
These proposals seem aimed at attracting working-class and senior voters, groups that could be crucial in the upcoming election.
“Today, I’m also announcing that as part of our additional tax cuts, we will end all taxes on overtime,” Trump said to his supporters in Tucson, Arizona.
“The people who work overtime are among the hardest working citizens in our country. And for too long, no one in Washington has been looking out for them. They are police officers, nurses, factory workers, construction workers, truck drivers, and machine operators,” he continued.
He firmly added, “It’s time for the working man and woman to finally catch a break, and that’s what we’re doing, because I think it’s a good one. I think it’s going to be great for the country.”
Moreover, the GOP leader also mentioned that a significant portion of the missile defense system he proposed earlier this year will be built in Arizona.
“Ronald Reagan wanted to do it many years ago, but we didn’t,” Trump said. “Honestly, we were lucky. We didn’t because we didn’t have the technology we do now.”
“You see in Israel how it works, and we’re going to have the biggest and the best … and a lot of it’s going to be made in a place called Arizona. Is that okay?” he concluded.
The audience praised and applauded his question. The defense system is expected to be similar to Israel’s Iron Dome, which intercepts short-range rockets to protect against attacks.
