Two individuals, one being a police official, sustained stab injuries at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport this past Wednesday.

The Atlanta Police reported that an officer of lieutenant rank and a female passenger suffered injuries inside the airport’s security area.

A statement from the police department described an incident where a woman carrying a knife was spotted near the security checkpoint. She then proceeded towards the south terminal with the knife in her possession.

Authorities detailed that the woman first attacked an adult male. When officers tried to subdue her, she managed to injure an APD lieutenant with the knife.

An officer was eventually able to subdue and disarm the woman, leading to her arrest.

Both injured parties were transported to nearby medical facilities and were described as “awake, responsive, and breathing,” by the police. The woman with the knife was unharmed during the altercation.

A representative from the international airport informed Fox News Digital that the incident had little effect on operations and there is no ongoing danger to the public.

Footage and photos from inside the terminal displayed passengers taking cover while waiting.

Sarah Nagem, associated with the Border Belt Independent from North Carolina and present in Atlanta during the event, mentioned on X that those inside the terminal were informed it stemmed from a domestic and evolving situation.

Authorities are currently examining the circumstances that led to the occurrence.
