(Patriot.Buzz) – Confirming he is ready to do what Democrats are unwilling to do to protect the country, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis hinted at his plans to deal with a specific group of illegals entering the state.
During a discussion with conservative radio host Dana Loesch, DeSantis revealed that any Haitian aliens arriving in Florida might find themselves transported to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, under a state-financed program.
This statement comes amid growing trouble in Haiti, which has raised concerns about a potential surge of migrants fleeing to Florida, home to a significant Haitian and Haitian-American population.
During his appearance on Loesch’s podcast, DeSantis highlighted the steps the state has taken to prepare itself against any uncontrolled migrant influx, mentioning, “We do have our transport program also that’s going to be operational.” This program previously made headlines for relocating illegals from Texas’ border to northern Democratic strongholds.
With Haiti descending into further chaos due to political unrest and gang violence, DeSantis and Florida’s GOP senators have urged the Biden administration for tighter immigration controls.
Although Florida has not yet seen a significant arrival of migrants, state efforts to boost security in the Florida Keys allowed Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers to intercept a Haitian boat carrying 25 individuals, including unaccompanied minors.
DeSantis underscored the need to defend Florida against additional pressures, stating, “Look, Dana, I’ve got to defend my state. I’ve got enough issues just dealing with people fleeing from blue states moving into Florida.”
The governor said he was ready to both use the migrant transport program as a means of addressing the situation and provide aid to return illegals across the border if they arrive in Texas or Arizona.
This approach reflects DeSantis’s ongoing criticism of federal immigration policies and his support for strict anti-illegal immigration measures within Florida.
The state’s migrant flights to Martha’s Vineyard and Sacramento have been carried out as a form of protest against the Biden administration’s open border policies and have drawn conservative praise.
Despite Democratic protests against the program DeSantis emphasized, “I definitely think we can help put them back over the border if they come across in Texas or Arizona. I’d be willing to help do that. I think that the states have no other choice to do that.”
