(Patriot.Buzz) – Stepping up the fight against the damaging liberal agenda crippling America, the University of Florida declared its plan to dismantle its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) office, cancel “DEI positions and administrative appointments” and terminate contracts with DEI external vendors.
This action was guided by a Florida Board of Governors’ ruling on “prohibited expenditures,” which bans the use of state or federal resources to support DEI advocacy, and follows a state statute enacted in May 2023 that also barred DEI funding.
An HR department memo explained:
“Under the direction of UF Human Resources, university employees whose positions were eliminated will receive UF’s standard twelve weeks of pay. These colleagues are allowed and encouraged to apply, between now and Friday, April 19, for expedited consideration for different positions currently posted with the university.”
The memo also revealed that the Office of the Chief Financial Officer would redirect around $5 million, previously dedicated to DEI initiatives and reported to the state for salaries and other expenses, towards a faculty recruitment fund under the Provost’s Office management.
Additionally the University of Florida stated that it maintains its dedication to the universal respect of human dignity by embracing diverse perspectives in education to nurture a community founded on trust and respect for all within the “Gator Nation.”
This announcement arrived shortly after a College Fix investigation revealed the University of Florida’s administrative ratio to undergraduates, which saw part of the administrative costs put toward DEI efforts.
“The latest data shows that UF’s DEI initiatives consisted of the equivalent of 24 full-time employees. DEI initiatives cost the university $5.3 million, $3.3 million of which is state funded,” the university added.
Before accepting to lead the university, former Republican U.S. Senator Ben Sasse faced stiff opposition from some faculty and students before his tenure began in late 2022.
The anti-DEI legislation is part of an educational reform initiative championed by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis last year and bans public institutions from using state or federal funds to support programs or activities that advocate for DEI or engage in political or social activism.
