NOW: Flags to Half-Staff

Flag at half mast

(Patriot.Buzz) – To honor the memory of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, who recently passed away, it has been decreed that flags at all U.S. government buildings and military installations be lowered to half-staff.

In a proclamation from the White House, Joe Biden reflected on Carter’s impactful life, both as the First Lady of Georgia and later as the First Lady of the United States. She was praised for embodying hope and warmth and her unwavering dedication to addressing some of society’s most pressing issues.

“She was a champion for equal rights and opportunities for women and girls; an advocate for mental health and wellness for all; and a supporter of the often unseen and uncompensated caregivers of our children, aging loved ones, and people with disabilities,” Biden stated in his tribute.

He further admired the deep and enduring love between Rosalynn and former President Jimmy Carter, highlighting it as the epitome of partnership and their leadership as the quintessence of patriotism.

The White House’s order specified that flags would be flown at half-staff beginning last weekend and continue until sunset on the day of Carter’s interment.

In its announcement of the former First Lady’s passing, the Carter Center noted that she died peacefully at her home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by family. At the age of 96, Rosalynn Carter had been battling dementia and experiencing a decline in health for several years.
